The meeting came to order at 8 PM ali members of the Board being
present. ~,
'Warrant No. 31, 'totalling $7,925.88 was presented by Town'Acct.
Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Mr. W. Ripley Nelson, Prank Dinsmore, Phillip Murray and Charles
Swain of the Park and Recreation Commission were present
and presented the Board copies of their various bulletins
setting out their ~ules and regulations, which had been
gone over previously with the Board, the Board on motion
made and seconded voted to approve same and then referred
same to the Chief of Police for his approval.
A petition was presented by property owners in the 'Baston St.
and Brant point area asking that the Board see that .some
action is taken with reference to surface drainage and
sewage lines in the area. As members of the Sewer Commiss~
were present this matter was discussed with those present
and it was the sense of the meeting that the Sewer Dept.
obtain the services of an ehgineer to look into the matter
of surface drains both in the Easton St. area and in other
areas of town and then report their findings to the Board.
A'letter was received from Mr. Richard Everett requesting con-
sideration of a surface drain across the full width of
Old N. Wahrf at Eas~street to prevent surface water from
washing down the wharf proper. As this matter will be '
covered in the survey no action was taken at this time.
The foll0wing were appointed Sp. police having been approved by
Chief Howes: Hazel Sandsbury at the~Jetties Beach Comfort
Sra. Harry Larrabee in connection with his duties of
cleaning beaches and David Worth at Bennett Hall.
The request.of Mr. Ch.s Thomas for a no parking area opposite his
driveway on Union St. was approved the abutter Mr. Neidrin
having advised that he had no objections to.same in front
of his property.
Signs at Murrays Beverage Store, the Islander Inc. and Mary Baker
were approved same having been approved as to form by the
H.D .C.
An application of Edward Seldanha for permit to hold a Jazz conce
at Legion Hall on Sunday Sept. 3rd was not approved.
The matter ~f the ~¢onnection of the new sewer line.across lower
Orange St. from the Island Home to dave St.'was discussed
and.on recommendation of Supt. of streets Jaeckle it was
voted to delay same until after labor day..
Voted to authorize the Gas & Elec. co. to paifitthe back of a stre
light near the Daniel Wight property on Hulbert Ave.
Voted to inquire of the town counsel as to regulations limiting
the size of sightseeing busses on the island.
Voted tO r~quest the Chief of Police to investigate the ~oUth
Hos%el bldg. on Winter and Liberty St. along with Mr.
Pranklin Lamb and report to the Board.
Voted to advise the Police Dept. that working at St. ~harf Theatr
after 1.PM on Sunday morning was prohibited.
There being no further business the Board went into executive
session and adj. at 10.15 PM.

that fu~tHe~ actions o{ this nature would be cause ~o~
revocation of his taxi permit. ~
