Minutes of the Previous 'meeting were read andaPpr0ved. Mrs woo4ward of. w. Chester St. Was 'present and ', suggested that lines be painted on the curb at Main St. to designate'the parking spaces and also some regulation to make cyclists.. proceed in single file, these matters were taken under ad- vis.ement.. The following' licenses and'permit's were aPproved: Nant. Sea Foods, Common Vict; Parker Gray Sunday Ent.;:Frank Psaradellis, Taxi license; Gertrude Lamb. Comm. Vict' Ice Cream and Soft drink; .Island Marine Set.'. Inc. 'permit. to st0r~ marine gas~in underground tank; Mrs'Alves, No parking.sign opposite garage entrance on Hussey St. Siasconset Caslon, Rose day permit; Suzy Holdgate_ Carriage license and permit to park on Main St. near Orange. Voted to h~ve Mr. Puttrick repair the bridge steps and walk at South Gulley, Siasconset. A letter was received from the 1st Naval Dist. Siasconset Mass The matter Of'the Dump,at the N.E. land 'near 'the 'retocat~d old ,South-Rd, was discussed having been carried over from the County meeting and,it was voted to adv. for bids ,for cleaning and bulldozing same. Glidden, Secy.' selectmens Meeting 12 July lg61 The meeting came to order at 8PM all members of the Board being ~ present.. -, , Warrant No. 28 totalling $63,036.68 was presented by Town Acct. Barrett and checked and approved by the Board. Minutes:of the previous meeting were read and approved. Bids on Art. 22 Oiling dirt roads Were received from Nant.' const. Co.' and Walter F. Glowacki both bids were in the amount of .22¢ per gal. it was voted to ask'the two contractors if they desire to rebid same or to flip a coin. A notice was received from the Supt. of streets that he needed a transfer for traffic markings.of $600.00 and same was referred to the Finance Committee. Mr. WaYne Allen was~granted a permit to hold a dance'at~legion' hall on 20 July from 8PM to 1AM he to p~ovide asp. police officer, also granted,~a permit to sell soft,, drinks. Various letters were received relative to th~'steps at Magnolia Ave. Sconset and it was voted to determine what the cost of repairs would be. A dividend in the amount of $138.11 was received from the Boston Mutaul on the Towns insurance program. Mr. Parker Gray was 'granted permission to have Painted on the existing sign which-is at the corner of Old Soufth Rd. and which now reads Surfside with an ArrOw, the additional wording of Fairgrounds Rd. same to be same color and size as present wordking. ' ~. Mr. G~ay a~so requested consideration of a street light on Fairgrounds road and was advised that same would be looked at when the Board made a survey. The Civic League was granted permission to sell tickets relative to a garden tour on 27 July.and Aug. 23rd. Mr. Irving Stanley was granted a'sp..auctioneers license for use at the N. Church. M~r. Henry B.'Coleman was granted a renewal ofhis auctioneers lic. Nant. Ph. was granted a renewal of its soft drink license. Miss Schepp requested a no parking area on Easy st. and it was suggested that we establish a'10 Min. parking area aprox. extending fifteen feet from the comer'of Old. N.' Wharf. A letter was received from Sutp.~f:streets Jaeckle suggesting that we ask Mt.Thomas McGrath if he would undertake a survey of the various old fire cisterns and it was so voted. Voted to'have the st~ps at indian A~.'and the Walk near seven doors checked for condition. Matter of bushes at the corner of Crooked Lane and Madaket Rd. , was referred to the highway dept. for correction. The matter of a stop sign at L. Pleasant St. and Williams Lane on L. Pleasant Street was discussed and Voted.
