The meeting came.~o order at 8PM all members Of'the Board except
Glidden and Meilbye being present. Mr. Desrocher served as

Minutes of the pre~ious meeting were read and approved.
Warrant No. 26, totalling $31;187.88 was~presented by Town Acct.
Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.
A letter was received from Mrs Margaret Howe 'relative to litte~
and placed on file.'
The following Permits were'granted under Ch. 812 of the Act. of
1960. Philip Murray, Pour Winds, Emporium, Dexter Collins,
William Haddon, Jetties-Beach, Nantucket Weavers.,
It was voted that the Secy'. be guthorized to grant permits under
said Sec. 37 of the Acts of 1960 Ch. 812 to other establishme:
who apply for same before the 4th of 'July.~
~A letter was received from James Walsh relative to having the merr
go-round and sale of,food at the K of C carnival on Sunday
23 July. Voted to table same for one week.
A letter was received from.the Mass Audobon"So~iety setting forth
their position relative to the control of Herring Gulls and
placed on file. ,~ ..
Contracts for the maintenance of the state highway for the next
six months were received and signed by the Board. ·
The following pole locations were approved,,~notices having been
sent and no objections having been received: Bartlett Road;
Warrens Landing Road, Rhode Island Ave. and Baxter Road.
An application~from Mrs Clarence Alves for,la no Parking~area on
Hussey St. was'tabled for one week.
A letter from Ch. Plan'agan requesting caution signs on Union St.
,was received and as it appe.ard that. the area was well posted
at present same was referred to the Police Dept.
Applications"for Sp. Police apProved by Chief Howes were received
for the following, Donald Van Kampen, Local force; Chs ~.
Planagan, James P. Hastings and Charles P. Flanagan, Dreamlan
Theatre andvoted approved.
Mr. ~dward Davis' Wa's granted-a,~ermit to transport garbage and
rubbish from Quidnet only provided same was transported in
covered containers or vehicle.
Mr. Nathan Thursio~ was granted a permit ~r a Carriage.
Mr. John Viera was granted a renewal ofhis.taxi license.
Isabel Johnston and c0rrine Jen~ings were'~gr'ante'd a Common Vict.
Lic. for box lunches at Prospect St.
The following licenses and permits were granted: Jessica Nixon
Common Vict. soft drink and ice cream;_Wm. B. H. Snow, Soft
drink; Congdons Ph. Soft drink and ice cream; Whitfields
Common Vict. soft'drink and ice cream; Robt. Backus recorded
music weekdays only; Harold Gaillard Opera ttouse, recorded
music and piano weekdays and sundays; Allens Lobster Grill
Recorded music sundays; Upper Deck, Piano and recorded music

filed for two weeks pending ~eceipt of.bids from an adv.'
placed in Firefighting magazine.

tabled at this time until the Board makes a survey of lights.
Mrs Norman Giffin"requested'a street sigp on Roberts lana and same

Voted to Write to'the Hy'~nnis Bo'ats~requesting them to advise ~,
their passengers not to throw.refuse overboard while in the
harbor, andalso to send copy of same to the Harbor master.
There being~no further business the Board went into executive ~ session and adj, at 9.30 P~ ..... , .

Voted to send N.~.'Airlines another letter relative to cleanihg
up the dump area on their property,
A letter was received from ~cyril Ross~relative'tO entertainment~
noise from'the Sidewalk Cafe and voted to send them a letter
advising of thelcomplaint~and' requesting they take action
to correct, same.' ~',' :
Voted to meet~m with Ch'ief Howes at ~ PM on Thurs afternoon to
discuss the matter of Blue Laws etc~ ~, ,~
