The meeting came to order at 8PM all members of the Board being
present. ·
Warrant No: 25, totalling $10i813~'5 was presented by Town Acct.
Barrett.and checked and.approved by the Board...
Minutes of the Previous meeting were read and aPProved.
Mr and Mrs Thurlow Barnes were present and asked if the Board'
could have Commercial Wharf posted against speeding cars,
it was voted to have a Slow sign erected by the Highway Dept '
Mr. Alexander Craig and Mr. Tel Berna, of the'SteamShip Authority
were present and reiterated the request previously made by
Mr. Craig that some effort be made to have all matters within
the.Towns control as regards shipments of materials shipped
via.the Steamship Authority..Voted to write all appropriate
Town Dept. heads and commissions'to this effect, and also
to ask th~ Town Counsel if he felt there would be anything
to prevent these matters being stipulated in contracts.
Mr. james Walsh in behalf of the K of C was granted a permit to hr
a carnival at the K of C rooms area on Cherry St. on July
23-24-25. ~,
The Breakers was granted a,renewal of its Innholders Lic.
Paul Klingelfuss White Elephant Hotel was granted a permit to
erect a sign over the sidewalk.
An application from the Island Marine Set. ~c..to store white
gasoline in an underground tank at its place of business on
lower Wash. street was set for hearing at the premises at
9.30 AM on Wed. '5 July 1961. ~.
A letter was received from the Fish and Wildlife at Amerhest
State,College advising that:they had abandoned plans to
conduct experiments in gull control at Muskeget Island this
year.,, :~ ,,
voted to have the Harbor master 'pos~C:s'ome ~igDs 'in Hither Creek
Madaket warning power boats to proceed with caution.
The following license and permits were approved: Allens Lobster
Grill ent. and recorded music; Barbara Schell Boat House
recorded music and piano; Ocean House recorded music and pian~
David Rice dba Sandpiper, Common vict. ice cream, soft drink
and recorded music; Overlook Hotel, innholders; Wm. Henderson
and John Simpson dba Chicken Nest, Ice cream and soft drink;
On request of Chief Howes, Chester williams was appointed a Sp. -, Police to serve at the Airport.
Mr. Lynch of the Noisy oyster wrote asking for a permit to sell
candy on Sundays, as the Board was in receipt of a letter
from the Town Counsel advising that the Town had never voted
to accept the appropriate provisions of the statute no action
was taken on this matter.
The Board voted to have a no ~arking area ~arked at the cornet'
of Milk and Main streets on Milk street.
It was announced that an i'nterim rate increase had been granted
the Wannacomet Water Co.-on the basis of a $30.00 minimum
charge for which the customer would*receive.O00 Cu. ~.t. of
water and thereafter pay at the 'rate of 74¢ ~er 100 cu. ft.
Voted to~ advertise 'that a public fireWorks display would be held
at the Jetties Beach area on 3 July at 9 PM.

was voted to' advise Mr' Alien ,that if this was the case he
would have to make a~rangements to remove his' mother from
