The meeting c~me to order at' 8PM all.members of the Board being~
Warrant No. 20, totalling $36,522.$4 was presented by. Town ACCt.
Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.
Minutes of the previous meeting were.read and approved.
The matter of'applications for bowling alley permits' from j.
Gordon MacDonald et al and A. Preston Manchester were both
before the Board, Mr. MacDonald and his associates, Mr.~
Corkish and. Mr. Silva were present, the Board was in receipt
of protests as to the.location proposed by Mr. MacDonald
off Beach street and same were read. After discussion it
was on motion made and seconded Voted that both permits.be
granted one.at the Beach St. location to Mr. MacDonald et al
.and one at the location near the 1st Nat. store.to Mr. Man-
chester. ;,
A letter was received from Mr.~George Rezendes, Insp.,of animals ,
relative to two cat.bite cases and advising that the animals
had been sent to Boston ~or rabies check.
A letter was received from j. Maxwell Deacon thanking the Board
for his appointment as Assessor.
Mr. Ralph Myer and John Herbert were granted a ren6wa~l' of their
Common vict;, and recorded music ent. license at the Jolly
Beaver Coffee House, Center St.
Voted to have the Taxi stand on Federal St. so marked fSr the
season
Voted to adv..for~bids~on Art. ~8 of the annual warrant calling
for clearing, of a road in the Pocomo area, same
by 31 May ,61~
Voted that the regular meeting of the Board be held"6n Thurs of,
next week due to the Water Co. rate hearing in Boston which
the Board is attending.
The memorial day ~0mmittee was granted a permit to parade under
arms on memorial day and to have charge of the appropriation
for same. The Board ~was also invited to attend' the ceremonies
A letter was recei, ved from the Airport Commission relative to the
former Hostel bldg.'~and the Board acting as a Board of Healtt
Voted to condem same, and as Selectmen to authorixe the
.airport commission to take such steps as necessary'to have
same removed or torn down.
Voted to aPprove~ th6 sidewalk art shOw 'on Aug. 14,'i$ and 16
Mr. Thomas McGrath was granted~, a renewal of his Junk Dealers tic.
A request was received from the Public relations c~m~i~tee asking
that the information bureau be painted and approved.
Cap'n Tobeys chowder bar ~as granted a permit for Piano .enl.(no
group singing) also for an accordinist ............
Legion Aux. was granted a permit for a poppy day on May 26th and
27th
Letters were received from the Planning Board and the S~wer Dept.
relative the the Land Court Pet. of Murray at the Creeks
area and voted referred to the Town Counsel with instructi0n~
to take all steps necessary to protect the towns interest in
this area.

in receipt of a letter, from the Town Counsel advising that
a recent case had upheld same'and it was voted to.write the
planning Board and request that-they work up a limited~
form of zoning act for presentation to the voters at town<

Voted to advise Mrs Grimes of the O~ and ~C office ,that before.
the Board would grante'a leave of,absence to Mrs Cluett that
she must submit.a statement from her Dr. that she is unable
to work. ' ' ..
