The meeting came~to order at 7.:~'0 PM all members of the Board
except Mr. Meilbye being present.
Warrant No'- 11, gotalling $56,099.67 was pr~esented by Town ^cct. -. Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and apProved.
Mr. Arthur Gibbs, Mr. Arthur. Egan and Mr. Albert Pitkin of the
Planning Board were present and advised the Board that an
investigation had revealed that there were two are'as of
land in the creeks area which were in the process of being
taken by the Town for Nonpayment of taxes and suggested that
we should take whatever steps necessary to see that same
are reserved for the Town.
On motion made'and seconded it was'Voted to write the Town
Treasurer and advise that when said land which appears in
Book 1 page 43 of the assessors records reaches his hands
he is to hold same subject to the Boards pleasure, as to
necessary action to preserve same for the Town.
Mrs Leon Royal was present and protested the.location of a traile
in the Derrymore area. The Board discussed this matter with
Mrs Royal~and advised that without a zoning regulation we
are powerless to take any action.
Mr. John Santos was present and as Dep. Fire Chief serving in
Siasconset stated that it was the feeling of the Sconset
menthat with reference to Art. 112 which calls for a Day
Man in Sconset for the Fire Dept. for the summer months
that they would like to have a Sconset Man considered for
this job, stated that they have a man available. With furthe
reference to the Fire Dept.he complainedthat the Sconset
truck is taken from the village at various times for ins-
pections etc. replaced with the No. 2 truck from town'and
kept in town for three to five days, often with no notice to
him, stated the Sconset boys were unfamiliar with the other
truck and that in an erergency they 'would be handicapped in
its operation.'Stated'that he could see no need~of the Town
truck starting for Sconeet when a sconset call comes inn.
Further stated that the radio in the sconset truck is in
poor shape and is out of order or in need of repair a good
deal of the time, commented that a few years ago an article
in'the warrant called for a radio to beinstalled in the
Scondet truck and that the Chief had the new radio installed
in the service truck which he uses,' and an old radio put in
the Sconset vehicle. Mr. Santos also requested the Board to
come out'and make an inspection of some of the old bldgs, i=
Codfish Pk with a view to condemning som~ of them or at leas
making the owners'properly Board them up, as a fire protecti
measure.
Mr. John Gaspie Wa s present and stated that on his return from
his vacation he was advised by Chief Bartlett that he was
no longer in charge of the Fire Alarum system work and that
same was being done by someone else. Stated that the chief
would give him no reason, but that'he had heard on the stree
that the reason was that he had not done the job, stated tha
the Chief had never complained to him ofhis work, that many
times when he needed the service truck to do wire work it
was unavailable because the Chief had it, that he had kept.
a record of the times the truck was available for his use.
Commented that three fire alarm boxes purchased about 3 yrs
ago have never been installed for lact of necessary material
and switches which have never been ordered.

Selectmens Meeting 15 March 1961
Mr. HoWard BardSley,and Mr.,Oaeckle Sutp of streets were present
and discussed with the Board the matter of how the funds
appropriated under At. 43,of,~the~annual warrant should be
used. Stated that..they had agreed that snow fence.in aprox. '
50' foot lengths slightly staggered were-to'be erected,~that
there is on hand aprox..1500 feet of.fence which can
erected with.money.for~labor~to come from:art.'43 and that
when this is done the plan is.to purchase~aproxl 1500 feet'
more snow fence to have on hand for replacement and~building
up additonal dune area'. Stated that.they felt it was a waste
of money to place any fence in the so called Broad creek
area, that said area should remain as is and the road be
maintained as needed. The fence first referred to, to be
erected in the vicinity of the ~ld dwg. of Mr. Bardsley~
and easterly towards hither creek, and in some area west
of Broad creek.
Aliens LobsterGriii was granted a renewal of their Common Vict.
license. .~
A letter was received from the airport commission relative tothe
disposal of the old Hostel bldg.' so called, and it was voste
to inquire of the Town counsel our right to dispose of same
without a vote of the town.
An application'from Theatre.Prod. inc.of N.Y. for a series of
plays at St..~harf Theatre during the summer months was
recieved and permit voted. .~ ."~ ..
A letter'was received from Ma'and Mrs Ed. Olderich relative' to
dogs in:the school yards, stating thtt.their son had been
bitten, and.this matter was discussed with Dog.officer S.
,,Day who said he had as yet been unable to locate the dog
in ,question.
The Amer. Legion Post was grant'ed a One night beer and wine lic.
at the Leg. Hall for Sat. 18 March 1961 in connection with
their Past Cmdrs. night.,
Planned playtime was granted permission to hold the spring' Well Child Clinic May 10th and llth.
Mr. and Mrs Bricks°n at '49 Center st. were granted a Lodging
house license..
A letter was recieved from the Assessorsadvising that with ref-
to personal,property, non residents are assessed for same,
whether they are in business or not; '-
A letter was received'from Atty. Grace Henry relative to the.
bldg. on the County Road nekr the Beach, and voted to advise
that inasmuch as this was county business we.would be happy
to discuss thfs matter with her at our next county meeting.
Notice was received from the Park and Rec. Commission that their
regular meeting were to be held on 1st and 3rd Thurs of
each month..
Applications'for~renewal of seasonal alcoholic beverage licenses
were received from Barbar4 Schell dbi The Boat House, Hilda
Allen dba Aliens Lobster grill and Josp. Perry et al dba
Thirty Acres and voted to take the course prescribed by law.
It was reported that Ram Pasture Asso. would open'Hummock Pond
same to be under the Supervision of Mr. Killial, and voted
to authorize Mr. Kittial to let Mill Pond go, and to check
on Miacomet Pond. also voted to write Mr. Colgate for per-
mission to open Sesachacah.

Mr. Jos. Caton was appointed t° have charge o~ the ~ireworkds
