The meeting came to order at 7.30 pM all members of the Board, ~
being present.
Warrant No. '48 totalling $13,$08.71 was presented by Town Acct.
Barrett and. checked and approved by the Board.,
Minutes of the previou% me%ting were read and approved..
Town Clerk Coffin was present with NOtes to be signed by the
Board relative'to the borrowing of $200,000.00 for the
use of the. Airport in antfcipation of revenue from tSe
State and Federal airport projects.
Pole locations on Polpis road and milestone were befroe t~e Board
notices having been sent abutters and no objections havin
been~received were signed and approved by the Board.
Mr. Roger Young was present and asked if it was necessary to have
a permit from .the Board for the Highschool football
testimonail and invited the Board to attendf He was
,advised that no permit.was necessary.
Mr. ~iwy~ Francis Shellfish Warden was'present ~d gave the Board
some information he had received from the Dept.'cons.
Marine Fisheries relative to the N.Y. health regulations
'on scallops. ^lso~suggested that we place an adv. in the
local papers to',the effect that the taking of quahogs fro~
contaminated areas was a violation'of a state he[lth
'and subjected the person doing so,to loss of'license~and
a fine. It was so voted.
The following applications for renewal 0f alcoholic'beverage
licenses were received and voted to take the course pres-
cribed b~ ,law: Sankatg Golf. Club, Inc. and James T. Worht
Inc.
A letter was received fr~m'Rep.~ Mooney,relative to anew state
law relative to,the setting up of conservation areas.
And it was voted to note this matter f6r an article in
the annual warrant.
A letter was received from Mr. Tell Be~na advising that he had
been formally.sworn in'as our Rep. on the steamship Auth.
and also advising of his resignation from the Recreation
Commission.
A copy of a letter sent to Comm. Bessettee bY Rep. Mooney relative
to the Madaket Broad Creek area was read and filed.
It was called to the attention of the Board that scallops were
being stockpiled in the Sparks Ave. area on property of
Earl Mayo jr. and creating a nuisance in the.area. It
'was voted to refer this matger to Mr. Jos. Lamb'for atten~
It was noted that the sidewal at or near the past office was
raised in a few places making it hazaderous.and it was
voted to refer same to Supt. of streets for attention.
It was Voted to write the Tree Commission and ask if they had
any suggestions as to how some of the tree roots could
be p~uned'so that sidewalks could be leveled.off.
There being no further business the Board went into executive
session to discuss welfare matters and adj. at 9.45 PM.
