HomeMy WebLinkAbout1960-11-09Selectmens Meeting 9 Nov. 1960 The 'meeting came to order at 8.14 PM having been p~e~'eeded by 'a county commissioners'meeting, all members of the'Board except Mr Killen being present ' Warrant No. 45, totalling-~ ~'/~ ~,Was Presented , by ToWn Acct. Barrett and checked and'approved by ,the Board. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Town Clerk Coffin was present With election return' rePorts~'to be signed by the Board for forwarding to the Secy. of States office. The Board discussed the matter of the sidewalk at the library with Supt. of streets Jaeckie which we had looked at last summer with~a view to completing the existing tar strip with brick if we had enough money. Mr. Jaeckle advised that their was enough money to complete the~sidewalk at this~time and it,was voted to authorize same,be done, with,the suggestion that the Supt. contact the library authorities relative to them deeding us ~he area. It was vo~ed to'have the Supt. obtain an estimate of the cost of the retaining wall at the Kaufman property on New street. A letter was received from Mrs Phinney of Tuckernnck thanking the Board for the spraying and the gypsy moth-control work carried out at Tuckernuck. A[letter was,r'eceived from Richard parker'and Earle smith of' the Mad Hatter requesting a year round alcoholic beverage license. Inasmuch as none are available it was voted to so advise them. Applications fo~ renewal of alcoholic beverage,license was recei' from C. George Anastos and Lilika Anastos dba Nant. Spa and Spa Cafe and voted to take the course prescribed by Appliction of Lawrence'and Marj°rie Miller db~' The,Harb6r House for transfer of their seasonal all~alcohlic innh61ders license to Travis L.'Harris was voted to take the course prescribed by law. . ..... . A request through the Police Dept.'was receiv~ from ~a~cus requesting no parking on either side of. Macey Court which runs from Gardner St, to Howard St. and same was filed to give the Board an opportunity to look at the/area. The:Legi6n Post was ~ granted a permit to parade under, arms on Veterans Day the llth. Relative to hedgeS'growing out on sidewalk the voted the Board to write the.Town Counsel relative to our authority in these matters. A letter was received from Miss Cravott advising of her vacation and that she had obtained Mrs Stackpole to take over her duties. There being no further business the Board went into executive session to discuss welfare matters and adj. at 10 PM. J~mes K. Glidden, secy. On the applicationof Ruth Perry for admission to Our Island Home it was voted to have Mrs Grimes,first determine if she ~ would be eligible for Dis. Assistance. ;d L1
