The meeting .came to order at 8.45 pM'having.been prece'eded by
a County Commissioners Meeting, all members of the Board
being present. :, ,.
Warrant No. 36'totalling~$122.715.14 was presented by ~own Acct.
Barrett and checked andapproved by the Board.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
It was voted to approve and adv. the warrant for 'the StaGe Primar
to be held on 13 Sept ' the polls to be opein form 7AM to
5 PM. Polling place, Youngs Bicycle shop, Broad St. Town.
Mr. George 'Jones, Ch. of the 300th ~committee
was
present
and
presented to the Board the final financial records of the
Committee and suggested that when the Board was through
with same that they be turned over to the Historical Comm.
to be placed with other records of the event
It {vas voted to accept the report as submitted and to write
letters of thanks to both Mr. Jones and his committee and
to Mr. Edgar Orpin for his fine job of record keeping.
Mr. Blwyn Francis Si. Shellfish: warden was present and advised'
the Board that next week he would be receiving 400,bu.of
quahog seed which he suggested planting in E. harbor Polpis
Madaket Broad Creek area, and some in Folgers creek, same
was approved by the Board.
A letter was received from the DAR _suggesting a" proclam.ati6n be
issued for Constitution Week Sept. 17-,23. and votea approvea
Application of the Gas & Elec cO. for'a change of'pole'~ location
on Gardner Rodd was received and approved.
Aletter Was received from the 'American Legion Post thanking ~he
Board for its assistance in the matter of the recent car-
nival. , .
Voted tO h'old an open house at Our Island Home on Th~rs 15 Sept.
. from 2 to 4 PM.
Approval was granted John Eddleton to erect a sign at his
place 'of business on Chestnut.St, same having 'been aPPr~v&d
by the Historic Districts Commission,
Voted that Liquor stores~m.ay stay Open on Primary Day 13 sept,
1960 "- ' '
Voted to advise the tree commission of trees on Pleasant St.
which need trimming.
The Yacht Club was,granted approval to place their floats on
the Childrens beach ~for the winter months.
There being no further business the Board went into executive
session to discuss welfare matters and adj. at 10.15 PM
Welfare:' Mr. William BurdOck Sr. was Present again asking for
aid and it was voted to advi~e him to get a job like every-
one else and stop sponging on the town.
Voted to write Mr. Joseph Viera a letter about cars and
Town lot on W. Dover
