A Mr..Scott Herrick~ representing a Committee for,Non Violent Action was present and'request'a permit to hold a public '- meeting, outdoors, it was voted to approve a permit provided they could secure a hall and so.advise the Secy. . Miss Mettle Empson,'M~. Harold Lindley and Dr. Ralph Harvey.Were present and the matter 6f the-Steamship Authority was dis- cussed with no constructive suggestions being offered other than that from Mr. Lindley that we ask the authority to operate,a three boat'a day. sch. with the Nantucket omitting N. Bedford, and meeting ~the N.Y. train until the steamer 'Nobska comes ~back on the line. This'suggestion was voted 'referred to Mr. Backus for attention. Eleanor J. Royal applied for 'a taxi permit, inasmuch as .it' appeared that she wanted this permit so,that-her son Alien could use her vehicle which was larger than his it was voted to approved same with the conditon that the permit' previously issued to him be turned~in. It was also voted that no further taxi permits be issued, and that any approve by the Board.but not issued by the Clerk be voided. A letter from Mrs Schickafis requesting a sheild on a Street ' 'light near her residence was voted approved.. '. Voted'to write th'e-st'eamship authority as regards seeing that the information booths at the N.Y.' train terminals-have the correct information as regards boat.connections 'to the Islands. ..A letter was received from Mr.,'Robt. Leske, dba Capn Tobeys 'Chwdr bar'requesting ath his ent.:permit which hO. Covers ' recorded music be enlarged to inclue a paino and incidental music. Same was tabled for one week ........ A letter was received from'Supt. ~streets Jaeckle relative to . the Shawkemo.and Shimmo signs and it.was voted to have -, the present.sign reading Shakemo~moved out to its proper location further.along the.Polpis Rd. and a new sign made designating Shimmo until we could'obtain.one from the state.
