was,,,received from'the tree, commission requesting
· , appt.,of their foreman Mr. Olute as,a Sp. Police officer,
after discussion the Board felt that the problem they were
-trying to overcome'could best be handled by either calling
,the local police or.by having the-area.they were working
properly roped off so, that same'could not be infringed upon.
Mr. Allen J. Roy'al was granted a permit for a taxi .
Mr.-Richard parker, Spa Cafe was granted approval for window
Boxes at the front'of said establishemet.
Margaret MancheSter dba Nant.New Ocean House' was granted a
renewal of her ent.' permit.
Mr. Rober~,Taylo'r wrote advising relative to Ch.'90 Work"on,
Cliff road that he would be willing to grant the town a
portion of his land to ease a curve in the area. It was
,voted'to write the DPW and request plans of the proposed
layout so_ that we could go ~ver same. On,the same subject
voted to request the DPW to include'in their spec. that
unused fill etc. be carted to the town dump. ,
A letter was received from one Rev.. J..Han~e~ relative to an
,ordinance on ,19tiering and placed on file.
The YPW was granted a Permit,for'a poppy day on:15 July.
The Board discussed ihe suggestion of Mr. Barrett relative to
the formation of a panel of lawyers to investigate the
steamship authority matter, and it,was voted to write the
Trans. Comm. and ask if,-they were working on the same-matter'.
Voted to write Mr. Backus,our authority member and request 'that
the'new labor contract and the ~ld be furnished,the Board
and further that same be'publisehed by the:autho6ity for
the information Of the public.' ~,
The matter of a stop sign in the area of G~y'and WestmihSter,
,streets was disucssed and it was voted to refer this matter
'the the police dept. and the supt.,of streets 'for their- ',
suggestions ,
it'was 'noted that hedges and bushes were Obscuring signs~at
~corner-of liberty and Gardner streets and on Hussey,streets
and voted to write the.Supt, of streets on ih~se items,
¥oted to ask the Town counsels opinon on our ppwer~to.regulate
the mooring of boats ~est of the Western Jetty'areal.
The matter of Procuring surf boards for the 1ife guards'at
" : Diones and Siasconset was discussed, and the Secy. instructe~
-to find out the~cost of same,
Voted to.wr'ite the,v{rious lifeguards and' advise that~it iS''
within their authority to regulate the use of ~ubber floats-
rafts etc.-on days they feel same will be dangerous'
