Acct. Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.'
Minute's~of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Tel Berna and Mr. W. Ripley Nelson were present and conferre
with.the Board relative to the Main street sings:and the~band
concerts, stated that the present plans called for.the
concerts to be at the Bank steps and that.probably the'sings
would-be in the same area. Asked and suggested that an in-
formal committee composed of the Ch. of the Selectmen, Ch.
Civic League, Ch. Recreation Committee, Chief of Police and
Supt. of Streets be approved:to work out the necessary de-
''' tails and same was approved by the Board.
Mr. Berna stated that a l rge amount 0 'music for the bank had
been purchased from~an estate and that it 'was necessary to
file~and store same, Mr. Pease was appointed a committee of
one to find a suitable place for same.
Mr. Howard Bardsley of'the Madaket Conservation Asso' was presen
and~requested information on the progress of the dune
· program. He was ~dvised that Mr. Hannon of'the DPW had been
unable to get here as yet.to plan this matter with us but that
we could contact.him again-and advise.
Mr. Robert Currie was p~esent and'suggested that some
should be available at the ~arf at woods hole so that when
visitors arriving not knowing of the boat strike they could
be advised as to how to get here. Mr; Backus of the authority
was contacted and advised that the agent Mr, Simmons was.on
duty at the woods'hole wharf and that he would h~ve a sigs'
erected directing people to him for information. It was also
voted to have the public relations committee put our-direct
line telephone in operation so that calls for information
could be made direct to our information bureau. "
.. Mr. Cbs Stackpole was granted a permit for Sq. dances at Bennett
~'.' -Hall~during July Aug. and Sept. and appointed a Sp. Police
to serve at same subject to approval of the Chief of-Police.
'The following were.appointed Sp. Police on recommendation'of
~ 'Chief Howes: Howard Bardsley, Samuel Swazie, Charles Chambers
' .and Gilbert Burchell Sr.
The Pire chief and one of his men was granted'permission to
attend a ~ire school in Conn. on June 6th thru llth.
P01e locatationS were approved on Vesper'and cato'Lanes same
having been called to the abutters attention and no objecti
having been received. '~ .
Pole locations, no hearing necessary were approved on Gardner
Road.
Pole location aPplications on Gardner R°~d and Shawkemo Rd. were
received and date for hearing set for 8 June 1960.
The B~rd voted to issue the annual warrant to the Dog Officer
and to advertise that all dogs must be restrained from runnin
at large from 4 June to 15 Sept. 1960.
The Town"Acct.l--requested that we ask the ~inance committee to
transfer $397.78 from the Reserve Pund to the unpaid bills
account, and same was so voted, also voted to ask a transfer
C~ to pay.for the Wharf signs which are now completed.

The Siasconset Casino Asso~.was granted a permit/to ShoW'sound
motion'pictures.during June, July, Aug. and Sept. 1960.
The folloWing license's and 'permits were approved:~ '~ ~ .
joseph Perry et al dba 30 acres, Sunday'entertainment;
Prank Burr dba The Ropewalk, piano entertainment and
occasional~lyrics;'Donald Smith Caddy Camp at Sankaty Golf;
.Kath. and Ray Wiley.dba The Chanticleer, Innholders;Mrs.
Sterling B. Yerxa, permit to hang a sign.over the sidewalk.
An opinion was received from the Town counsel~advising that the
Board had the power to fix the amount of the fee te be charge,
for taxi permits. .-
Mr. Harry Howard volunterred to paint the fountain at 'lower
main street and to plant ivy and flowers in same and take
care of them for the season,~and this offer was accepted with
thanks.
Suggested that we write the' Civic League Garden club and suggest
that roses planted around the trees on Main street , in time
would make a'very attractive display.
The Police dept. advised that they would s6on begin enforcing thel hour and no parking regulations etc.
Voted to have the 1 Hr. parking and other signs erected on S. water street.
A list'0f~persons eligible for appointment t0 town:election
positions was received from the Democratic Town Committee-
and placed on file.
Bids were received as follows:

the local beaches are closed from 9 PM for the period 15 June

Voted to write the Town of'Marlboro and-congratulate them on their 300th anniversary. ~ .~?
Voted to write'or telegram Gov'~'Furcolo relative to his inaction in the matter 6~ the Steamboat'strike.
