Mrs Eleanor 'Royal, Dr. Ernest-Menges.and 3udge' Caroline Leveen were. present and protested the granting of pple locations to the Tel & tel and Gas &Elec. Cos 'in front of their'properties on Center st. The Board~tabie'd ~. any action on these permits pending further~clarificat]on ,, from the companies.' Mr. W. Ripley Nelson' representing the Hist. Asso. was also present on,the matter of.a pole locati, near the Whaling Musem on Broad street and this matter was also tabled. Mr. Arthur ~obertson, reported that the Wage .and Salary ~r, persom 'Board had organized, that , he ~ was Ch. of same. · Bids .on sidewalk on Williams Lane according to specifications' were aPened as follows: 'Nant. Const Co. ---3.75 lin 10.00 corner blocks each 'Walter F. G~owackl ' 23.00 lin ft. 30.00.corner blocks ~each 'As it appeared thai only a few' corner blocks were necessary . and'that Walter P. Glowacki was the lowest total bidder same was on motion made and seconded awarded to him. BSds on clearing and grading Of the r~location of Old South Rd. were received and aopened as follows: ..... Nant. C0nst~ Co.'--'--924.00 Walter F. Gi0wacki ~995.00. Same was voted awarded the lowest bidder, Nant. Const. Supt. of Streets .J~ckle' presented a lettef'for the Board signatu:es to the state DPW requesting,the center lineing of. the~town- roads as in previous years. ~: · _ .... The Board executed the lease of 'the Da~ cat~p,at the ~Jetties Beach to Mr.': and Mrs Charles'Cahoon. ~ Mr. Joseph Mello requested.a ano-parking sign on Beaver 'St. near a driveway and same was referred to the sup.t of streets. Mr. John Mclraughlin Jr' was granted a permit 'to operate a tixi'. Mr. Joseph Cahoon, was gran'ted a renewal of his Soft drink licens, 'at Joes Variet store, Milestone Rd. Siasconset. Voted: to request 'Supt. of streets to"provide us with specificat relative.to cleaning'of beaches and pi~.cking.up rubbish so 'that we might- advertise for same~ :- , '~ There being no further business, the Board went into executive session to-discuss welfare matters and adj. at-11 PM. Welfare: ' ~ '" ' ' '-" Referenc'~ the Carl Appleton prope~rty it was Voted "that We could not expend the amount .of money necessary to repair the roof and repipe this'property, and to so advise Mr; ~Appleton." ~ The'~ppiicatgn of'hfs Gebo for.admission to Our'Isiand Home was not: approved., it ~ appearing .that 'she was in good health and that her Children should continue to take care-of her.
