The first part of the meeting was devoted --to that of County'Commissfoners. Minutes of the previous~meeting were read and'approved. Warrant No. 14, totalling~$21,438.09 was presented by Town' ACC1 Barrett 'and checked and approved by the Board. Application of fhe Nantucket Dairy for a renewal of i~s Past. , permit was approved,,Mr. Lamb having inspected the premises in behalf of the Board and~reporting that same was OK with addition of screens during the summer.- Mr. Stuart D~bard Es'q. was' present 'as was Mr. A.~ Preston Man- Chester and his arty G.,M~' Poland with reference to the application of ~Ir. ~lanchester for, a bowling alley permit at the corner,of Washington and}Coffin streets, Mr.~Debard stated that he,and Mr. Manchester had been unable to come ~ to terms on a price for the lot in question,'that he was prepared, to offer an option in four:~figures and a price in five figures for. the lot. Mr.~ Manchester stated that the option request for was date of 30 July and that then if terms, were not agreed upon it would be too late for him to do anything this year, blt. G. M. Poland Esq. stated that the matter sounded like a real estate auction and he felt the,board has all the facts and requestkd that we give them an answer. Miss Gladys Wood'spoke on the problems that would arise in,the neigherbhood.,'The, Board asked Mr. Manchester:if he would'like more time to discuss this matte with Mr. Debard, or whether he wanted,us'to take,act/on on same-at this,time, he stated he did not'see.in view of,the figure Mr. Debard was offering how they, could come to terms and Mr. Poland stated they felt'the Board should decide' the issue ~' Ch. Pease advised the parties~that we would oonsider this matter later in the meeting, and during the'executive session the Board Voted: That we deny the: applicati6n,a* the Washington St. location, but that we are infavor of, bowling and would look-favorably upon an application at another location which the Board might,regar as more suitable.
