Barrett and checked and-approved by, ~he Board. Mr..Nestor Rishards repr~esen~ing the Pishermens ASSO. was presen~ and requested ~hat ~he Board through the shellfish warden ask ~he s~ate to make a survey of the soq~ shell'claim areas ~Mr. El~yn*P=ancis Shellfish Warden was present and stated lhat he had a prog~am~in which he ~planned~to harrow various soft shell clam flats in lhe sp~ing and ~ha~ he would have the assistance of a state biologist, ~and that'he would feel tha~ ~h{s should cover this matter, and .further that he,would hope the Board w~ld not open ~he season on clams un~il the fall so that the results-if any of his program might be-studit The Board were~in accord with'~he sugges~ions'of'the Wa~den and voted to approve his program. Mr. George Andrews'spoke'on House~Bill No.'2191'with..~efere~nce to netting about ~he sho~es e~c. stated he felt .~he old regulalion which is now in force should ~.retained. Warden P~ancis suggested that we ask Rep. Mooney to obtain for us from~the Div. of,Pisheries their'opinoion on ~he .contr. of the present regulation and it was so vo~ed. Miss Giadys Wood[was granled a permit to haneda Sign over ~he st~ee~ at her.new place of bysiness on S. Wa~er St.~same having been~approved as to form by the H. Dist. Comm. It was called to the attentlon.'of the Board tha~ a meeting had~ been set up in Edgartown, Sa~. PM with members of the Selectm, of Palmouth, Marthas Vineyard and Nantucket, all '.members of the Board sta~ed they would be able to a~end, and the Secy. was requested to make ~he necessary arrangements Mr."Killen suggested ..that'.we reactivate .~he~Tr~n~po~tat{on, committee,, and' that we request lhe~Rotary Club,~ and'~the Chamber of Commerce to suggest or nominate one of. their ~ ~ ' ~members to serve'on this Committee~along with-four o~hers ~ to be appointed by the Board.~n motion made-and-secnded it 'was sos voted, with the addition tha~ same be sci up b~vore 1 March if possible. The mat~er of, the,in6ormati0n bureau maps~printed2 by th~ Town Crier was agai-n discussed, Mr. '~eilbye advised ~hat he had gone, over some of same and ~hat he found a few that he would call unacceptalbe but that by 'and~ large he felt ~hey were OK and tha~ inasmuch as ~he Bureau was 'out of maps and needed same for mailing ~hat we should accep~ same provided the paper would weed out the ones ~hat were not OK.
