PROC]~EDIlqGS OF SPECIAL TOWN mrmTING HELD MAY 19,1930.
Pursuant to warrant the Inhabitants of the Town of Nantucket, qualified
to vote in Town Affairs, met in their Town Hall in said Nantucket, on
Monday, l~ay 19, 1930 at ? 30 o'clock in the afternoon and were caZled
to order by Lauriston Bunker, Town Clerk
Under Article 1 of the warrant Orison V Hull was elected moderator by
acclamation and assumed charge of the meeting
The warrant was then read by the Llerk
The Report of the Finance Committee was then presented to the meeting
by the Clerk by request of Mr James A Holmes, chairman of the Finance
Committee

recommendatmns on the articles contained m the warrant for the SpecialI
Town Meehng called for Monday May 19 1930

d_'e~ollars or as much thereof as may be necessary for the removal of
~bage during the summer from yachts tn the harbor
' We ecommend the sum of Four Hundred Dollars ($49000) be ap-
proprmted for the removal of garbage during the summer from yachts m
the harbor

put out to Public Bids where the amount is Five Hundred Dollars or more

where the amount is Fsve Hundred Dollars ($500 00) or more exeept when

As the report of the Finance ¢ow~ittee had been published in the
Inquirer and :Mirror, it was voted to waive the reading of the report.
Article $ was then taken up relating to the prorogation of ~oft
shelled cl~ ~n a portion off ~olp~s ~arBor
Voted that ~r Bassett Jones be granted the privileges of the floor.
~r Jones then took the floor and made quite extens~iv.~e~remarks
on the subject of propogation of soft shelled clams~th~ portion
of Port~on of Polpis Harbor, which he considered favorable to
plan.
Remarks on the subject were then made by the following gentlemen
Walter D Glidden, Jesse H ~ldridge, Edmund P Crocker, Orison V.
Hull,-after calling ~r John K Ayers to the chamr-, Charles H
Blount, John K Ayers, - after the ~oderator had resumed the
chaxr, Alfred E Smith, Charles E Burgess, ~dwmn S Txrrell,
Mr Newell from the Cape, after the privileges of the floor
had been voted to him, William F ~acy, James H Wood and Joseph
M Larkin
Voted , (45 in the affirmatmve and 29 in the negative)
that Article 6 be accepted and that a portion of Polpis Harbor
be set off for the propogation of soft shelled clams under
a surpervising commxttee appointed for that purpose
Voted ~ that the remainder of the reort of the Finance Committee
be accepted and its recommendations adopted.
