Dear ! r Ryder
The I antucket £~cht Club has had many appeals
from the summer residents about the garbage nuisance in the
harbor, during the summer months The Town of ha~tucket was
appealed to about the subject ~bout two se~ons ago, at thet
time, the Board of Selectmen rexused to do anything because
they sa~d that they thought the visiting yachtsmen would not
like a garbage boat coming along side their yachts twice a
day Commodore Crosby had ~ petition drawn up last summmr,
which was taken aboard every yacht that came into the harbor
asking them what they thought of garbage removal from their
y~chts They were all very enthusiastic over it and we had
?~ signatures to the patition
TDerefore, we aope~l to you on the behalf of
the ~embers of the ~autucket l~cht Club to institute and
appropriate the money for the collecting of ~arbage from
yachts £h~s is being done by the best yacht clubs in the
country and I erclose a copy from the V~ce-Commodore of the
;Iarton lacht Cluo, which is a Yacht Club simil~r to ours
having the same problem, ,~hich ~s you w~ll see they have solv-
ed with great
I hope that you will be able to take this before
the soec~al To ~ ~eetfng, so that ~e will get relief this
Yours resoectfully,
Eric
