Minutes of the meeting of May 21, 2018. The meeting took place in the Public Safety Facility Training
Room, 4 Fairgrounds Road, Nantucket, MA 02554. Members of the committee present were: Rick
Atherton, John Brescher, Tucker Holland, and Kristie Ferrantella. Absent: Penny Dey, Richard Ray, and
Linda Williams.
1.Chairman John Brescher called the meeting to order at 1:30pm.
2.Agenda: Rick A. made a motion to approve, seconded by Tucker H. All voted in favor.
3.Public Comment: Teresa Williams of 61 Polpis Road was in attendance to discuss her article at
Town Meeting. This article has been moved to be under review of the TGSC. Ms. Williams feels
that there is no place a citizen to go to report concerns about town officials and departments.
Ms. Williams will write a memo to Chairman Brescher.
4.Charter Discussion: North Attleboro had a huge overhaul of their town government. They would
be a good town to review. Groton has good aesthetics but their wording is vague. Dedham
requests that the town manager reviews the org chart once a year. We think this could be a
good recommendation. Dedham also has a licensing board. Westwood has a good format that
we may want to adopt. They also have an enforcement clause in the town job description that
states they need to enforce commissions and boards.
5.Review Topics: We may want to look into establishing a licensing commission.
6.Next meeting: Jun 18, 2018 at 1:30, same location.
7.Motion was made by Ricker A. to adjourn, seconded by Tucker H. All voted in favor.
