HomeMy WebLinkAboutCRC Minutes - 03-31-2009_201402061216033430 Contract Review Committee March 31, 2009 2 Fairgrounds Road Attending: Alice McWade, Mary Wawro, Linda Williams, Maryanne Worth, Ann Medina Excused: Christy Kickham, Jack Gardner, Rachel Rosen I. Town meeting strategies: Maryanne wants to get a sense from the committee of how they feel about calling Article 9 at the Town Meeting; she does not think that the money taken from the Community Action Committee of Cape & Islands (CACCI) and given to Nantucket Cottage Hospital (NCH) will be given back on town meeting floor. Maybe the committee can write a letter to the BOS and ask that NCH become a line item instead of having funds taken out of the CRC funding. Part of the hospital’s obligation is to provide insurance enrollment, funds from the town pay for this position. The CRC has spent time deliberating on this, without a BOS representative, and the BOS made the decision to take the funds from CACCI and give it to the hospital. II. CRC Strategic Planning: Maryanne is going to have B.L. Hathaway come to the island to do a facilitation training for the CRC/CHS and public. She will also help identify alternative funding sources that can be accessed for funds for the Human Services agencies. III. Continuum of Care: Could the CRC be the Continuum of Care for these agencies? The CRC can look at the Continuum of Care model and see if it is something that the CRC can do. Maryanne will talk to MVY hospital to see how Community Benefits are accessed there. Linda will start looking on the computer for resources. One example is that some towns give ½% of tax dollars go straight to Human Services. This is done in California and Nevada. Other funding options have to be explored. IV. Other Business: The Community Wellness Fair, May 2, 2009, needs volunteers for a variety of different things. This fair hasn’t been done in 8 years and quite a few people have already signed up already. It is based on the “Healthy community” model. No action was taken because there was not a quorum. The next meeting date is to be determined. Respectfully submitted by, Ann Medina
