RE:DEADLINES/GATHERING SIGNATURES/CAMPAIGN PRACTICES
Here are some important deadlines for you to keep in mind:
Monday, January 4th Nomination papers available
Tuesday, February 16th Deadline for filing Nomination Papers with the Board of Registrars
@ 5:00 PM (submit to Town Clerk's office)
Thursday, March 3rd Deadline for withdrawing Nomination Papers (notarized statement is
@ 5:00 PM required)
Monday, April 4th Deadline for filing 8-day, pre-election Campaign Finance Report. (For period January 20, 2016 –
March 18, 2016.)
Tuesday, April 12, 2016 ANNUAL TOWN ELECTION, 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM, NHS
May 12, 2016 Deadline for filing 30-day, post-election Campaign Finance Report. (For period March 19, 2016 – April
26, 2016)
Jan. 20, 2017 Deadline for filing current year-end report. (For period April 26, 2016 – January 7, 2017 .) ALL ATE
2016 CANDIDATES, AND ALL CURRENT OFFICE-HOLDERS MUST FILE, or, if you have not raised, nor spent,
any monies, you must sign the M102-0 Form.)
When gathering signatures on your Nomination Papers, please keep the following in mind:
**DO NOT collect signatures at a public meeting!
**Thirty-two (32) signatures of registered voters in the Town of Nantucket are required (MGL Ch. 53, s. 6.)
**Obtain more signatures than are actually required to be on the safe side! Some reasons why signatures cannot be
certified: PO Box listed instead of street address; address listed is different from the address on voting list; first or last name is
different from name on voting list.
You will a link to the state website for your Campaign Finance Filing forms and instructions when you submit your
Nomination Papers. Please read this thoroughly as it is your responsibility to comply with all applicable laws.
