2017 SPECIAL TOWN MEETING 2017
The following is a summary of the articles called and discussed,and the vote taken by
the 2017 Special Town Meeting held at the Nantucket High School,Mary P.Walker
Auditorium,10 Surfside Road,on November 6,2017.Cyrus Peirce student Bobby
Planzer was the official Time Keeper.
Monday,November 6:–Meeting called to order at 6:11 PM.There were 449 voters
present at the start of the meeting. Ultimately, 572 registered voters were in attendance.
Voters were given green armbands,and consultants were given violet armbands.Non-
voters were admitted to the Auditorium anteroom,and the proceedings were graciously
live-streamed by Channel 18.
At the close of registration there were 8922 voters.There is a quorum requirement of 5%
(449) on Article 3, and 3% (268) on Articles 4 and 9.

On November 6, 2017, at 6:30 PM, the following “Pot of Uncalled Articles” was voted
unanimously in accordance with the motions recommended by the Finance Committee
or, in the absence of a Finance Committee motion, then in accordance with the motions
as recommended by the Planning Board, as printed in the Finance Committee Report,
with technical amendments brought forward during the course of the meeting:
4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 12, 13, 16, 19, 25, 26, and 27
At 9:47 PM, on Monday, November 6, Moderator Alger recognized Dawn Hill-Holdgate,
Chair of the Board of Selectmen, who moved to dissolve the 2017 Special Town Meeting.
The motion was seconded, and adopted by Unanimous Voice Vote.

Consultant Jon Lemieus from VERTEX was on hand to answer any questions regarding Article 4,
the Fire Station.
