Here are some important deadlines for you to keep in mind: October 8, 2016 Warrant Opens for Citizens to submit Warrant Articles. Submit articles to Selectmen’s Office, then to Town Clerk. November 21, 2016 Warrant closes for citizen article submission at 4 PM sharp. Please plan accordingly. You MUST bring to the Selectmen’s Office FIRST before submitting to the Town Clerk. [DO NOT wait until the last day. If you don’t have enough good signatures, you must start over.] When gathering signatures on your Petition Papers, please keep the following in mind: 10 good, certifiable signatures of registered voters are necessary in order for your article to be included on the warrant. The Sponsor of the article (who should be the person who will stand and speak at Town Meeting) should sign on Line #1. Obtain more signatures than are actually required to be on the safe side! Reasons why signatures cannot be certified: PO Box listed instead of street address; address listed is different from the address on voting list; first or last name is different from name on voting list, Jr. or Sr. must be written in; signer is not a registered voter. NO DITTO MARKS!
