General Observations and Overview
Overall:
No or limited ADA accessibility
Parking is limited at most sites
Buildings are dated and in need of upgrades
Most sites need amenities such as drinking
fountains, bike racks, benches etc.
There is an opportunity to incorporate natural
play into the parks, similar to Cod Fish Park
Some desire a “one stop shop” website for on-
island parks and recreation related events
Desire expressed for a bike playground
Parks/DPW need housing for staff

Overall:
Desire to have car charging stations at
parks/beaches
Vandalism, trash and dog waste are issues
Some sites could use security cameras
Storage space is needed at all facilities
Resiliency and sustainability will be important
during planning

Great assets to the community
No ADA accessibility
Parking is limited at most locations
Buildings are dated and in need of upgrades
There are drainage and runoff issues
Most are overused and access can be difficult
There are conflicts between users and abutters
Access, wayfinding and identification signage could
be improved
Jetties Beach floods up to the tennis courts
Tennis and sailing programs work together

Passive Recreation Sites:
Limited ADA accessibility
Parking is limited at most sites
Buildings are dated and in need of upgrades
The sites are not used or developed to their
potential/capacity
Access and identification could be improved
There is a desire to connect Consue Springs
with the bike path
Access to sledding at Mill Hill Park could be
improved

Active Athletic Facilities:
Limited ADA Accessibility
Some sites have sufficient facilities (Delta Field)
Buildings are dated and in need of upgrades
Turf is in poor to good condition
There are drainage problems at some of the fields
There are scheduling conflicts for desired locations
Need more places for the running population,
indoor and outdoor
There is a desire for an indoor athletic complex
Youth soccer needs more space
Tennis needs more support facilities

Active Athletic Facilities:
Jetties Beach access drive could be upgraded to be
more inviting and identification signage could be
improved
Playgrounds could be amended or renovated
Tom Nevers Park is in need redevelopment and is
underused
There is a desire to restore the JFK bunker at Tom
Nevers Park
Town may need a full time events/activities/camp
programmer
