HomeMy WebLinkAboutWoodard and Curran Monthly Update May 20, 2013_201401230917006826TOWN OF NANTUCKET, MASSACHUSETTS Monthly Update WOODARD & CURRAN 1 of 4 MAY 20, 2013 Projects 223970 Madaket Wastewater Treatment Facility & Collection System Phase 1 - Preliminary Design Phase Progress Last Month: Obtained FAA Survey from GSA. Finalized dates for PAL to conduct Historical / Archaeological analysis of Site. Received Natural Heritage and Endangered Species Program (NHESP) Permit and Massachusetts Historical Commission (MHC) Permit to initiate intensive survey at FAA site. This Month: PAL in field conducting intensive survey on FAA land the week of May 20.The FAA site botanist is overseeing all survey protocols as part of the NHESP Temporary Permit. We anticipate a draft report by beginning of June on the results of the Historical / Archaeological investigation Continue to work on Surfside Capacity Analysis Coordinate Surfside Capacity Analysis efforts with CWMP Update Flows and Loads estimates Schedule Projected completion date – December 31, 2013 Financial Phase 1 Budget - $348,630 Spent - $ 206,443 Town Action (s) Required: Continue to support consultants’ investigations of operations and data gathering at Surfside WWTF Town of Nantucket, Massachusetts Project Update May 20, 2013 WOODARD & CURRAN 2 of 4 225139 CWMP Update Progress Last Month: Conducted a site walk in Nantucket Harbor Watershed area to identify areas where some Best Management Practices (BMPS) can be recommended to attenuate the impact of stormwater as related to the Massachusetts estuaries Program reports and subsequent Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) issued by MassDEP.. Continue review of I/A systems Met with Board of Health to review status of Septage Management Plan adopted November 9, 2005. Continued working with estimated flows and loads in all delineated 2004 Needs Areas and CWMP update Study Areas Worked with SAMST on the 2012 water Quality results and presentation This Month: Continue with CWMP Update report writing Continue working with SMAST on 2103 Water Quality Monitoring Program Continue working with SMAST on completion of Hummock Pond MEP Study-due July 1. Coordinate CY2014 State Revolving Fund (SRF) applications Reach out to MassDEP on SRF Regulations related to Zero Percent and qualifications due to 85Percent Rule Work with Town to get Town Sewer District users corrections. Redefine flows and loads based on these corrections. Reach out to SMAST after TSD corrections are made to understand potential nitrogen load changes to previous models. Schedule Projected completion date – December 2013 Financial Budget - $571,000 Spent: $ 276,183 Town Action (s) Required: Finalize assessment of questionable properties within the Town Sewer District that are listed as not connected Town of Nantucket, Massachusetts Project Update May 20, 2013 WOODARD & CURRAN 3 of 4 225140 Phase IIB Sewer and Water Main Rehabilitation Project Progress Last Month: Construction in Downtown area is being suspended for the summer period Full time Resident Project Representative on site during the construction project. Jetties area manhole installation to be completed by end of May 2013. This was additional work added to the project once it was determined that a significant amount of seawater was entering the collection system and negatively effecting the operations of the Surfside WWTF This Month: Full time Resident Representative at site Monday through Thursday with contractor Attend final Phase 1 monthly project meeting with contractor, Town Departments, utilities and other stakeholders. Shut down project for summer period Schedule Projected completion date – December 2014 Financial Engineering Budget - $921,700 Spent - $454,152.90 Construction Bid - $3,494,320.87 Spent - $1,366,218.88 Town Action (s) Required: Conduct walk through of Phase I work with Resident Project Representative, Engineer and Contractor to finalize Phase 1 punch list for completion by May 2013. 225839 Surfside WWTF Assessment and Upgrades Progress Last Month: Completed Operation review for the DPW Director. W&C Staff spent three days at the WWTF working with Town staff Submitted a Draft Operations summary memo for review and comment Corrosion control assessment to begin May 20th This Month: Discuss potential to inspect the existing Membrane filters prior to the limit of the warranty period in December 2013 to determine the condition. Will present cost to DPW Director for review. Town of Nantucket, Massachusetts Project Update May 20, 2013 WOODARD & CURRAN 4 of 4 Discuss SCADA upgrade budget at Surfside and Siasconset WWTF Schedule Projected completion date – December 2014 Financial Budget - $110,000 Spent - $25,138 Town Action (s) Required: Support Corrosion Control Sampling effort Continue to provide support to the Consultant for access to the WWTF and records. Additional Services Progress Last Month: Jetties Work. Contract signed. Continue coordination efforts with Town and US Army Corps-half versus full tide jetties. Also coordination with SAMST on previous model runs utilizing jetties restructuring. Fertilizer By-Law - Contract in review. Coordinate efforts with Jeff Carlson at Natural Resources Department. This Month: Jetties Work – same as above Fertilizer By-Law – same as above Town Action (s) Required: Sign Contract for Fertilizer By-Law support. What to look for this month: Construction to be completed for the first season by May 15, 2013 More visits to Surfside WWTF for Assessment Support Additional site visits to FAA and Nantucket Harbor Watershed for stormwater and fertilizer assessments.
