While fiscal issues may not be under the jurisdiction of ConCom, we hope you consider thefinancial impact to the Town if this revetment is not approved. We have noticed a fissure (crevass) appearing from the bluff and heading towards the road close to the Walker property. The Town has already placed a warning sign there andcordoned off access. In walking from this fissure to the road’s edge, there are approximately 23 feet left. What is the immediate plan if this distance shrinks? We are concerned that if underground pipesbecome exposed, the road could be closed. What do all of the residents of upper Baxter do? Services, utilities, emergencies? And yes, many of us are here through the fall and beyond. Is there a “band-aid” plan in place? We believe if the revetment is not allowed, there willsurely be protracted legal proceedings if eminent domain comes into play. This, in addition to substantial cost to all taxpayers on the island. (Incidentally, in talking about this proposalto other island residents, most did not realize how much tax revenue has already been lost on Baxter Road). Is it not time to give this plan a chance? The Coastal Management speaker (Clay Backus)said Nantucket has a unique opportunity to do this project, especially since private funding is already in place. Maybe we should follow through. Sincerely, (signatures attached above) Kyle LatshawLoretta Yoder P.O. Box 3186Nantucket, MA 02584
