MEMBERS ABSENT: None. Board of Health called to order at 6:00 p.m. Any concerns from the public. None noted. AGENDA Board of Health unanimously approves Minutes of November 28, 2007. Variance Request – 124 Wauwinet Rd. – This is an existing home with a failed septic system. The owners are requesting relief from local BOH regulations and will utilize an alternative design system. HO Ray recommends approval of variance request. BOH unanimously approves variance request. Pinto’s Island Fruit and Produce – The owners of this business have requested relief from the federal food code’s requirement of floor material/welded seam requirement, and would like additional time to bring the current flooring up to code. HO Ray tells the Board that while the owners requested this meeting, and were informed of the date of this meeting, they have left the island for the holidays. HO Ray would like to give the owners another chance to appear in front of the BOH, but will not consider licensing their business in the meantime. The Board proceeded with the hearing and unanimously denied Pinto’s request for an extension to bring the flooring up to code. Senate Bill 2379 – HO Ray discusses Senator O’Leary’s bill relative to water protection which will assist Nantucket and other Cape communities with groundwater and nutrient loading issues. It offers $30 million dollars over a period of time to towns meeting specific criteria and will fund sewer work/extensions and septic repair (use of alternative design) and recognizes local land use controls. This is a 0% based loan basis. HO Ray asks the Board to sign a letter of endorsement for this bill. BOH offers unanimous approval of S2379. BOH adjourns at approximately 6:27 p.m.
