BOARD OF SELECTMEN
Minutes of the meeting of 5 March 2009 at 9:00 AM. The meeting took place in the Conference Room, 16
Broad Street, Nantucket, MA 02554. Members of the Board present were Rick Atherton, Brian Chadwick,
Michael Kopko, Allen Reinhard, and Patricia Roggeveen. Chairman Kopko called the meeting to order at
9:02 AM in open session.
Mr. Chadwick moved to adjourn to executive session for the purpose of real estate disposition and
contracts; Mr. Reinhard seconded. Chairman Kopko requested that the Board return to open session to
ensure all Board members are in agreement with the decision to go forward with the accelerated landfill
mining program. The Board consensus was in the affirmative. Mr. Reinhard said the Board needs to get the
message out to the public that the Town is going forward with an accelerated landfill mining program. Mr.
Chadwick noted that the Board seems in agreement on the decision but that the details still need to be
worked out. A discussion followed to clarify the Board’s decision on the mining program and the associated
term sheet, the details of which are to be discussed in executive session. Chairman Kopko requested that
Mr. Chadwick amend his motion to return to open session if needed; Mr. Chadwick so moved at 9:09 AM.
All in favor, so voted unanimously by roll call vote.
