EXECUTIVE SESSION. Minutes of the Meeting of 10 June 2008.The meeting took place in the
Conference Room, Town and County Building, 16 Broad Street, Nantucket, MA 02554. Members
of the Board present were Brian Chadwick, Patricia Roggeveen, Rick Atherton, Allen Reinhard and
Michael Kopko. Also present was Assistant Town Manager Malachy Rice and Town Counsel Paul
DeRensis. Chairman Kopko called the meeting to order at 9:00 AM.
Non union Contract Negotiations. The Board discussed the hiring of a special counsel with
regard to its on-going issues with Waste Options Nantucket LLC (WON). It was noted that three
proposals were received and each proposal was discussed in detail with respect to its rates,
capabilities, experience, and any past association with Nantucket. A lengthy discussion followed
regarding specifically what the Board will require of the special counsel and how the process of
selecting special counsel will move forward.
Real Estate Disposition. Discussion followed concerning a proposed settlement agreement with
Great Harbor Yacht Club (GHYC) concerning the disputed “Triangle” parcel located at Washington
Street Extension. It was unanimously agreed that Mr. DeRensis will contact GHYC attorney Sarah
Alger to further try and resolve this matter.
Chairman Kopko excused himself from the table and left the room, thus abstaining from the
following discussion. Chairman Kopko did not return to the meeting.
Discussion ensued regarding the issue of an outfall pipe easement/public access issue with the
Nantucket Yacht Club.
By roll call vote, the meeting was unanimously adjourned at 10:43 AM.
