Minutes of the Meeting of 6 February 2007 at 6:00 PM. The public informational meeting took
place at the Coffin School, Winter Street, Nantucket, MA 02554. Members of the Board present
were Douglas Bennett, Brian Chadwick, Michael Kopko, Catherine Flanagan Stover and Whiting
Willauer. Chairman Willauer called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM.
Clarification of Public Concerns Regarding the Proposed Sconset Beach Preservation Fund Beach
Nourishment Project. Representing the Sconset Beach Preservation Fund, Cheryl Bartlett
provided background information. Epsilon Associates engineers Les Smith and Rick Spadoni and
others outlined the proposed schedule of activity, answering technical and other questions about
the Sconset Beach Nourishment Project. Discussion followed on prior examples of this type of
project and public concerns including those regarding fish and fishing, ability to see small boats in
the project area, lack of extensive data for the proposed site, costs, toxicity of “binders,”
contingency plans for “collapses,” appearance, potential Town obligations and alternatives.
The Board advised the public that written concerns could be forwarded to the Town Administration
offices.
The meeting adjourned at 8:40 PM.
