Minutes of the Meeting of 10 April 2007 at 10:00 AM. The meeting took place at Codfish Park
Beach Parking Lot, Sconset, Massachusetts. Members present were Brian Chadwick, Michael
Kopko, Allen Reinhard, Patricia Roggeveen and Whitey Willauer. Chairman Willauer called the
meeting to order at 10:02 AM.
Site Visit of Sconset Beach Preservation Fund Beach Erosion Control Project Area. The Board
met with consultants Mike Jenkins and Mark Garrett to view the proposed site for the proposed
project. They viewed the erosion area and discussed project intent and impacts.
At 11:35 AM, Chairman Willauer recessed the meeting until 1:00 PM.
Chairman Willauer reconvened the meeting at 1:10 PM at 2 Fairgrounds Road, Nantucket,
Massachusetts. Consultants reviewed the process and issues in sequence. Discussion followed
on the consultant’s role, the adequacy of data collection for the proposed project, importance of
noting potential effects on the fishing industry, both commercial and recreational; size of the
“cobbled area;” effects of artificial environments on habitat migration; effects on other species and
the “best interest of the public” and the Town’s roles as a property owner and regulator. The
contractors consented to move the date for a final report April 30, 2007. Discussion continued on
the order of procedures, a four- to five-month timeline for the project and whether or not there are
any liabilities or benefits to the Town.
At 2:40 PM, Chairman Willauer polled the Board and Mr. Chadwick, Mr. Kopko, Mr. Reinhard, Ms.
Roggeveen and Chairman Willauer voted to adjourn to executive session, not to return to open
session, for the purpose of discussing a real estate matter.
