Erika: I intend to remind the BOS at their hearing on August 6th that the historic Nantucket Railroad
roadbed runs across the bottom part of the Wannacomet Water Company property and that, no
matter how the land is used, we should try to protect this piece of Nantucket history.
I have attached an aerial photograph of the site, which was taken from the Town’s GIS maps, that
shows the railroad clearly as a linear feature that runs from the pedestrian crossing on Old South
Road in front of 2 Fairgrounds road to the property edge near to the end of Hinsdale Road.
I will also ask if the planning for the new hospital will include a re-fueling option for the helicopters.
At the moment, each medi-flight involves the helicopter traveling from the hospital to the airport
for refueling, which is double the take-offs and landings for each patient.
I will be very brief, particularly if we can project the picture.
