Meeting Minutes for August, 2011
Meeting called to order by the chair on August 9, 2011 at 10 am EST.
Location: 2 Fairgrounds Road, Nantucket MA
In Attendance: David Sharpe, Lisa Bouchard, John O’Connor, Lynne Robinson, Sue Marques& David
Larivee.
Absent: Angus Macvicar
Approval of Agenda: Agenda approved as written
Approval of minutes: Minutes from approved as written.
Topics:
Welcome of new appointees Lynne Robinson & Sue Marques
1) Letter to Town Manager:
We received an answer to the questions posed to Town Manager Gibson.
It is ok to remove addresses from taxi licenses and replaced with “on file with town clerk’s
office”. This just needs NPD approval.
It is not the responsibility of the town to look into validity of people’s national status.
A motion was made to table discussion on this topic until we have police representation at the
meeting. Motion by Sue Marques second by Dave Larivee. Unanimous vote.
2) PSA with regard to lodging complaints about taxi overcharges
This topic was tabled until Lisa had a chance to discuss it with the Nantucket Taxi Association.
3) Discussion of NTOA Proposal to Town Administration
2 of the 3 topics were passed by the BOS, the third proposal was removed by NTOA (Parking
spaces on easy st. Dave Sharpe was to look into how taxi owners are informed about changes.
Roundtable Discussion:
A) Committee Members:
It was agreed that Lisa Bouchard would represent our committee at the August 9, 2011
Airport Commission meeting to request taxi inspection not be done in the 1st 2 spaces in the
airport taxi line.
A request was made by the Chairman to the members to compile a report on the changes in
the taxi community in the last year and ideas on how to repair animosity between taxi
drivers & owners that there is among the taxi community lately.
B) Public Comment:
Tom Landry wanted to discuss the livery services impact on the taxi community and supplied
DPU regulations to the committee to review.
Next Meeting: September 13, 2011 at 10:00am EST. at the 2 Fairgrounds conference room.
