Location: 2 Fairgrounds Road, Nantucket MA
In Attendance: David Sharpe, Wendy Watts, John O’Connor, Angus McVicar.

Approval of Agenda: Agenda approved as written with no objections.
Approval of minutes: Because of technical difficulties and vacation schedules the minutes for
September 14, 2010 were not available for approval.
Meeting called to order by the chair on October 12, 2010 at 10:00 am EST.
Topics:
1) Review of administrative responses:
Advertising is permitted “Inside” taxis. Questions dealing with parking spaces were deferred to
the Traffic Safety Work Group. Chairman Sharpe will send a letter to them posing this
committees questions and concerns for their review and subsequent action. The 2 seats
available on this committee have yet to be filled for no other reason than the lack of response to
ads.
2) Zones:
Mrs. Watts stated that zone lines should follow streets as opposed to fictitious area lines.
Drivers have in past crossed in and out of zones and mischarged due to not knowing exactly how
to charge for such a fare. Vice Chair O’Connor suggested as a committee we take a look at the
map and see if we can tweak it a bit in order to make things a bit more black & white.
The Committee agreed to propose to the towns GIS person to rework the zone map to follow
streets. Chairman Sharpe will contact them before the November meeting.
Roundtable Discussion:
A) Committee Members:
Mrs. Watts questioned if the committee should keep the same schedule or make any
changes.
The Committee agreed to make no change to the current schedule.
Beginning in February, Meetings will be held at 4 Fairgrounds Public Safety complex meeting
rooms.
B) Public Comment:
David Barrett questioned what happens when the NPD receives a complaint. People seem to
find the system moves to slow. They were then told to put complaints in writing and they
seen action was then taken. Mr. Barrett further stated on the same subject they don’t seem
to see action taken against the companied after a complaint is lodged.
Lt. McVicar stated that the NPD does take action but most times much of the information
stays between the affected parties and are dealt with on a case by case basis.
Next Meeting: November 9, 2010 at 10:00am EST. at the 2 Fairgrounds conference room.
Adjourn: Meeting adjourned at around 11:00am on a motion by John O’Connor with all in favor.
