Minutes for Meeting June 8, 2010

Members Present; David Sharpe, Lt. Angus Macvicar, John O’ Connor, David Larivee,
Wendy Watts
Absent; Jon St. Laurent
The minutes for the meeting on 5/5/2010 were unanimously approved
David Sharpe (Chair) gave an update on the June 2, 2010 Board of Selectmen Meeting
where the taxi regulation changes were adopted by the board, Effective July 1st. Wendy
Watts will work with town administration to provide notification to the taxi owners.
The group then addressed taxi stands. It was suggested that more taxi stands be added
to locations around Nantucket. There are rules that pertain to taxi stands but no rules for
picking up and dropping off outside a taxi stand. A number of locations were suggested,
a couple being The Chicken Box, Sconset, and other mid island areas. After much
discussion it was decided we table the discussion till next meeting when we can have
more information on rules for picking up and dropping off from taxi’s be it at a stand or
not.
In public comment some discussion was had about companies using credit cards and as
a group we decided it was not for us to decide.
The next meeting of the TAC will be on 7/13/2010
The meeting was adjourned at 11:30am.
