A family council is a self-led, self- determining group of consumers - families and friends of nursing home residents that: • Works to improve the quality of care and quality of life of the facility’s residents; and • Provides families with a voice in decision-making that affects them and their loved ones. Many voices are stronger than one. The power of many people working together is enough to effect change, whereas one person can often do very little. Our Family Council meets on the third Wednesday of every month from 10-11am in the Conference Room at Our Island Home, and we are actively seeking new members! Please see Our Island Home Social Worker Laurie MacVicar Fiske with any questions, and come to the next meeting! Annual Memorial Service Please join us on Wednesday, May 15th at 10:30 am to celebrate the lives of our residents who have passed on during the last year. The service will be held in the Albert E. Lewis Dining Room here at OIH. Everyone is invited to join us afterward for refreshments and to share stories and memories. For additional information, please contact Laurie MacVicar-Fiske at 508 228 0462 ext 7407 or at lfiske@nantucket-ma.gov. “Love never dies. The song is ended, but the melody lingers on…” -Irving Berlin Resident Portraiture Local Nantucket photographer Barbara Clarke is offering her portraiture services free of charge to OIH residents.
