Event Spotlight:
Daffodil Day
Saturday, April 27th is
Nantucket’s 45th annual Daffodil
Day, and Our Island Home is so
fortunate to be situated right
along the town-to-Sconset
antique car parade route! All
friends and family are invited to
join residents and staff in
watching the parade—12 noon in
front of The Landmark House.
Yellow attire encouraged!
Medicare Cards
Reminder: please be on the
lookout for your/your family
member’s new medicare card!
The new Medicare cards are
being mailed between April
2018-April 2019. Please send or
bring a copy of the new card to
the OIH Business Office!
New Weekly Group:
NiSHA Pet Visits
Every Tuesday morning, volunteers
from Nantucket Island Safe Harbor
for Animals bring animals to visit
with our residents. It’s so fun to
have furry visitors, and it brings
back many happy memories!

Employee of the Month
Carol Matson
Carol is one of our many amazing
nurses. She joined the OIH team back
in 1987! Carol is currently our
Quality Assurance Nurse, but
residents love it when she spends a
day on the floor!
Volunteer of the Month
Jim Sulzer
Jim, a former teacher at Nantucket
Public Schools, generously donates
his time twice monthly to bring
classical guitar to OIH residents. It’s a
very different type of music for us,
and residents love it.
Family Council:
The next meeting is Wednesday,
March 20th, 10:00 am; and the
following Family Council meeting
is scheduled for Wednesday, April
17th at 10am.
Boys and Girls Club:
All are welcome to join us at 4pm
on April 11thth in the OIH living
room for some fun and games with
the kids of our local BGC!
Author Reading:
Steven Axlerod, author of many
mystery novels set on Nantucket,
reads stories aloud (some his own,
some classics) at 4pm on
Saturdays and Sundays in March
and April.
Kids Comedy Show:
4pm on March 27th. Join us for
some laughs!
Upcoming Live Musical Talent:
Susan Berman: returns with her
amazing musical partner, Ray, on
March 21st and April 18th.
Mollie Glazer: resumes her
Monday performances on April 1st.
Paul Connors: is joining us on
April 3rd with the oldies!
Jim Sulzer: March’s volunteer of
the month will play classical guitar
on March 28th and April 4th.
Steve Tornovish: brings us some
country back from a recent trip to
Nashville! April 17th.
All music performances begin at
4pm, in the OIH living room.
*Please note that as of 2/15/19,
the restriction on visitors under
the age of 18 due to flu season is
no longer in effect. Please
continue to avoid visiting if you
have experienced any cold or flu
symptoms within the past 48
hours. Thank you for your
cooperation!

Staff Update: Nursing
We are excited to report that travel
nurse Darlene Mitchell Thomas, RN is
scheduled to begin work at OIH
during the last week in March.
Additionally, we are thrilled to
announce that our current travel
LPN, Elaine Kennedy, plans to
continue her time with us here at OIH
into September.
Bea Santos celebrates her 98th
birthday at OIH!
