Please join us for the annual
Boston Pops concert at OIH!
When: Saturday, August 11th
6:30 pm Where: OIH Patio
Each year, the Nantucket Cottage
Hospital generously makes it
possible for each resident and
their family members to see the
Pops, live! Via large screens and
speakers on the Our Island Home
patio, it looks and sounds as if we
are at the concert in person! This
year, conductor Keith Lockhart
and the Boston Pops Esplanade
Orchestra will be playing with
RAIN, a Tribute to the Beatles.
This event is not to be missed-
light refreshments, blankets and
chairs provided!
Renovations Update
Renovations of the North Wing
resident bathrooms and the East
Wing Shower room are complete!
Residents are enjoying our new
beauty parlor and upgraded
facilities.
Advanced Care
Planning
Advanced care planning is about
taking steps to make sure you get
the medical care you would want if
you were too sick or hurt to express
your wishes. It is important to walk
with family and trusted loved ones
about your goals, values and wishes
for future medical care, regardless
of your current health needs. And it
is important for residents and their
families (or advocates) to have
these conversations with resident’s
care providers throughout an
illness, even at the beginning.
Staff Profile:
Edith Washington, RN
Please join us in welcoming Edith
Washington, Our Island Home’s
new travel nurse! Edith begins in in
July, and comes to us from Nashua,
New Hampshire. She is a Registered
Nurse and will be with us through
the Fall. Edith will primarily be
working overnights at OIH, but one
day a week will be here 3pm to
11pm. Come say hi and introduce
yourself!
Wednesdays in July and August:
Boys and Girls Club Stop by the
OIH living room at 10:30 am and
see the residents enjoying visits
with children from the Boys and
Girls Club!
August 2nd:
Author Talk: Rob Benchley Local
author Rob Benchley will be
coming to OIH to discuss his books
and answer questions from
residents, staff and visitors. 4pm
in the living room.
August 11th:
Boston Pops
22nd Annual Boston Pops!
6:30 pm on the OIH patio. Please
note that if the weather is very
chilly or slightly rainy, but the
event at Jetties Beach is not
canceled, we will have the
livestream in the OIH dining
room instead of the patio. This is
one of the most fun nights of
summer!
Family Council:
The next meeting is Wednesday,
July 18th at 10:00am.
Live music:
We have live music performances
scheduled for 4 pm in the OIH
living room on: July 16th, 23rd, 26th,
30th and August 6th and 9th! Come
on down!

Annual Ice Cream Social
Friends of Our Island Home board
member Erin Lindsay and Volunteer of
the Month Patty Lynch serving ice cream
to a resident’s daughter and great
grandchildren at our Annual Ice Cream
Social last month. We’d like to give a
huge thank you to Island Kitchen- they
donated all of the ice cream for this
event, and it was delicious!
Employee of the Month
Sari Wedderburn
Sari joined the OIH team in December
of 2015. Sari is one of our many
amazing aids. She helps each resident
she takes care of feel great!
Volunteer of the Month
Patty Lynch
Patty is both an OIH family member
and a stellar volunteer. Patty helps
out at our parties, and runs the
Wednesday Bingo game at OIH! She
always brings a smile, and treats
from Wicked Island Bakery!
Resident Portraiture

services free of charge to OIH
residents. If you would like to
schedule group or individual
portraits for your friend or
family residing at OIH, please
