Meeting Minutes for December 12, 2012
Location: Training Room – Public Safety Facility - 4 Fairgrounds Road, Nantucket MA
In Attendance: David Sharpe, Chairman, Lisa Bouchard, Vice Chair, Angus MacVicar, Sue Marques, John
O’Connor and Lynne Robinson.
Meeting called to order by the Chairman at 10:02am EST.
Approval of minutes: The Committee unanimously approved the minutes from November 14, 2012.
Topics:
1) Review of Police Chief Proposal to Revise Taxi Regulations/ Meters
The committee and an audience of 15 taxi owners and drivers reviewed their questions for the
Police Chief regarding his report recommending meters and other changes to the Taxi
regulations. These questions included the following:
Who pays for the meters?
Is there a backup person when the installer is away, sick, etc…
Are meters only mileage sensitive or also time sensitive?
Will meters be able to account for extra passengers, seniors, extra bags, bikes, etc…?
How many complaints does the police department have?
What are they about?
Have they been investigated/ reviewed?
Chairman Sharpe collected these questions and will forward them to Town Administration and
the Police Chief. The chairman will ask if they can reply back before the next TAC meeting in
January.
Next Meeting: January 9, 2013 at 10:00am in the Training Room of the Public Safety Facility at 4
Fairgrounds Road
