Meeting Minutes for November 14, 2012
Location: Training Room – Public Safety Facility - 4 Fairgrounds Road, Nantucket MA
In Attendance: David Sharpe, Chairman, Lisa Bouchard, Vice Chair, Angus MacVicar, John O’Connor and
Lynne Robinson.
Meeting called to order by the Chairman at 10:04 am EST.
Approval of minutes: The Committee unanimously approved the minutes from October 10, 2012.
Topics:
1) Review of Police Chief Proposal to Revise Taxi Regulations/ Meters
The committee actively and vigorously discussed the recent recommendations of September 28,
2012, put forth by Police Chief William Pittman to Town Administration.
There were 5 points. Point 1 was adding a large and unique identification number to the taxi on
the rear doors. Point 2 recommended picking up fares within 200 yards of a designated stand.
Point 3 requested amending the dress code to prohibit sweatpants and athletic shorts. Point 4
urged the installation of meters and the fare structure. Finally point 5 required permission of the
first passenger to allow the taxi to carry other passengers not related to the first passenger.
The committee and the public attending the meeting felt that the deadline of November 15
requested by Town Administration to submit their findings was not enough time for the4
committee to properly review and express its concerns. The committee asked Chairman Sharpe
to ask Town Administration for postponement of any Taxi Committee recommendations until
after the next scheduled meeting on December 12.
Chairman Sharpe asked the committee as well as the audience to return on December 12 with
written questions and concerns for incorporation into the report/ recommendations to be
submitted to Town Administration.

at 4 Fairgrounds Road
