Approval of minutes: Approval of Minutes from August 8, 2012 Election of officers for 2012 – 2013 term: David Sharpe was reelected Chairman and Lisa Bouchard was elected as Vice Chairman Topics: 1) Summer Round Up There was no discussion by the committee. Audience member David Barrett expressed concern and frustration over foreign taxi drivers. Barrett wants clarification from Town Council about whether police can check their license and registration. The committee briefly discussed the topic, however, federal law does not allow for this action. 2) Wheelchair Accessible Taxis. The committee discussed the matter in which Autopscot Taxi, which has 2 wheelchair accessible taxis has not been able to pick up handicap fares in a timely manner and that other taxis have been called to pick up these fares. The town has issued two new wheelchair accessible taxi licenses. The committee was not sure if is a need for 4 wheelchair accessible licenses. The Chairman will look into this matter with Town Administration. 3) Roundtable Discussion. The committee discussed a report that the Board of Selectmen would be put taxi regulations on the agenda for their October 17 meeting. Lt. MacVicar reported that there had been talk of revising the way to identify cabs on the outside. An idea would be to put large numbers (1-2-3, etc…) on the doors. The numbers would correspond with the name/ owner of the taxi. The Chairman noted that he will confirm the BOS meeting and would let the committee know.
