The Committee reviewed the changes made by the BOS that were recommended previously by
the TAC. This included the removal of addresses from licenses (240-2 Section C); Licenses
displayed in the rear seat will be removed (240 -3 Section A 1) and Smoking Prohibited in cab at
all times (240-4 D6). Notices went out in the May 31 and June 7 issues of the Inquirer and Mirror
newspaper. The committee will ask incoming Taxi Owners Association President Lisa Bouchard
if she could let the membership know of the changes.
2) BOS discussion about Expanding 60 license cap.
The committee discussed the pending BOS meeting in which the Selectmen may or may not
raise the license cap of 60. Town Administration asked if the TAC could provide an opinion, yes
or no about the cap. Members of the committee expressed concern about not enough cabs on
the roads at certain times, but It was eventually agreed that the TAC would support staying with
the 60 license cap.
3) Traffic Work Study Group – Club Car parking spot
The committee discussed a recent TWSG meeting regarding the 4th parking spot at the Club Car.
Depending on the size of the vehicle, some cabs stick out into the roadway. The TSWG decided
not to take any action on the matter.
4) Roundtable Discussion.
Lynne Robinson asked Lt. MacVicar who the taxi officer is. Lt. MacVicar reported that all the
officers help handle taxi issues. Officer Travis Ray is in charge of addressing the issues.
10:54am Lisa Bouchard arrived. The committee brought Lisa up to speed.
Audience member, David Barrett expressed concern that some taxi drivers will walk up Straight
Wharf to solicit fares. Lt. MacVicar said he will ask the Community Service Officers to enforce
the no solicitation rules.
