Meeting 8/16/12 4pm
Committee met at Center Street and Broad Street
Present: Kara Buzanoski, Jack Gardner, Allen Reinhart, Peter Louderback, Rick Atherton, Harvey Young,
Broad Street, N. Water Street, Whalers Lane, Ash St, Ash Lane, Academy Lane, Westminster and Quince St.
Broad Street:
Tree in sidewalk at Center and Broad is taking up the middle of the sidewalk.
Drain Pipe at # 27 Broad comes from the Jared Coffin House. Water runs the length of Broad St to the N. Beach
and Broad intersection where the water is causing the pavement to delaminate.
Remove the bike rack at 27 Broad Street.
Add a Bump out at #19 Broad St. property line for traffic control.
Put “L” shaped corner marks at beginning of parking areas.
Fix sidewalk at 18 Broad Street.
Change crosswalks with steel edging to granite.
The steel edging at Sunken Ship/Whaling museum crosswalk is protruding.
Intersection of Broad and S. Water has all kinds of wires/utilities.
Lower the curb on North Beach Street to 2”.
During construction, do “no parking” for 2 way traffic on Broad Street at the strip for truck access.
Use the truck alley at SSA for Broad St traffic.
For construction at Easy St and Broad St allow only 2 to 3 days because of the truck traffic.
For Whaler’s Lane, lower the curbing and leave the sidewalk as is. Or raise the sidewalk and leave the curbing
as is.
Utility boxes on Whaler’s Lane need to be addressed.
Address metal utility box on Whaler’s Lane.
Remove 2 pipes behind the Whaling museum. Leave the old gas pipe in place wherever it is found.
Crosswalk at Whaler’s Lane and N Water is example of good style crosswalk.
N. Water Street
Remove & replace the Belgium block, adding flowable fill to make it quieter.
Ash Lane
Remove and replace whatever is existing
Note any private swales and/ or drainage pipes and reset wherever they are.
Ash St
Save the old black slate curbing.
Curb is pushed out at #4.
Can this be pipe burst to eliminate having to remove and reset the cobbles?
Centre St
Add granite to the crosswalk at Ash Ln.
Academy Hill
Remove the cement in the shoulder at the bend above the music school.
Remove and rest the cobbles.
Fix the bricks at the entrance to #4.
Add brick sidewalk opposite of #10.
Westminster
Slope the road to keep drain water out of the houses.
At fence in the rear of 17 Gay, lower the road to keep out drain water.
Grind the road to keep elevation as is?
Reset the berm at the basement window of 17 Gay.
Add a wheel chair ramp at Gay St and Westminster.
Quince
Lower the curb to sidewalk level.
Lower the curb to sidewalk level at #14 Quince.
Change this section of sidewalk back to brick at #XX
