The sewer and water work on each street was discussed. She presented a color keyed map showing the work. Mr. Atherton noted that this will be the same as the process used for the Phase IIA sewer project. Mr. Rowland noted that he can provide a list of wheel chair ramps for the project area. Items noted by the members: The underground electric cables from the mainland come down through part of the project site. Some paver bricks are stronger than others. The bricks in the cross walk at Pacific Bank are tongue and groove. On upper Main Street reset cobbles as they are very rough. The members asked for a comparison of the cost of cobbles versus bituminous pavement. Curb heights, street slopes, crosswalks, wheel chair ramps should all look old. Previously there were complaints on N. Water because of noise. Presently there is no crosswalk on Middle India. One should be added. Cobbles should not be added to Broad St. ADA requirements must be adhered to. Smooth brick is preferable to cobbles or pavers. Easy St and Broad should not be done at the same time so that truck traffic can continue to get to and from the Steamship Authority. The Committee decided to walk the project streets to do site inspections. Thursday 8/9/12 at 4pm was chosen to begin the site inspections. Upper Main at the Civil War memorial was chosen as the location to meet for the first inspection. Meeting was adjourned at 5pm. Respectfully submitted, Kara Buzanoski, DPW Director
