Department of Public Works Conference Room Nantucket, MA MINUTES Attending: Steve Anderson, Michael Glowacki, Dual McIntyre, Tim Soverino, Charlie Stott, Robert Williams, Nancy Wheatley, DPW Director Buzanoski. 1) Call to order, 10:12 a.m. Director Buzanoski called meeting to order at 10:12 when a quorum had assembled. 2) Review minutes from July 12, 2013 meeting. Deferred to next meeting. 3) Director Buzanoski introduced the speakers for the topic: Septic Systems 101. John Schnaible and David Michniewicz of Coastal Engineering Company, inc. in Orleans, MA who described the characteristics of some of the innovative / alternative systems available. • Ampidrome (50,000 gal / day) • Bio-Clere • F.A.S.T (does not reduce N below 10 ppm) • Recirculating Sand • Omni System • Septi-Tech • Singular Green • Advantex 10:50 Chair, N J Wheatley joined. Group discussed: • The uncertain validity of Nantucket Board of health requirement for a greater separation from groundwater than Mass. Title V standard. • The ability of some technologies to reduce N to < 4 ppm • Criteria of cost and esthetics, along with input and maintenance requirements in seasonal use situations.
