MINUTES: Coastal Management Plan (CMP) Work Group – April 22nd, 2013
PRESENT: Sarah Oktay, Carl Borchert, Jamie Feeley, John Stover, Kirk Riden and Emily MacKinnon
ALSO PRESENT: Jim O’Connell, Dave Fronzuto and Jeff Carlson
Meeting called to order at 4:30 pm
In lieu of a Coastal Management Plan Work Group meeting, the Committee attended a Civic League Public Forum on
coastal erosion.
Jim O’Connell, of Coastal Advisory Services, presented on Shoreline Change – Sea Level Rise and Coastal Erosion. He
discussed historic and future erosion statewide and specifically on Nantucket. He also discussed several erosion control
alternatives and the impacts of sea level rise on future erosion.
Jeff Carlson, Town of Nantucket Department of Natural Resources, presented on the state Wetlands Protection Act and
local Wetland Protection Regulations. He discussed what the role of the Conservation Commission is and what the
process of filing for a permit involves.
The meeting was adjourned at the completion of the public forum at 6:05pm
